Hà Giang Loop

High in the most northern part of Vietnam lies the grand mountains of the Hà Giang province. We travelled 400km over four days on our scooter, through vistas of limestone pinnacles, granite ridges, and remote, minority villages and ethnic groups. It was one of the most awe-inspiring and mind-blowing experience we had while travelling the country.

This is one of the poorest provinces of Vietnam, and the people live a lifestyle that not many (if any) of the western world could handle for a day, let alone a lifetime. It was a humbling privilege check to witness the men, women and children lugging supplies up the mountains in the heat of the day, while hundreds of tourists passed by, obnoxiously crowding viewpoints and perceiving these locals as nothing more than a photo opportunity.

Maybe that seems hypocritical coming from photographers, who spent the whole trip with a camera in hand. But this experience for us was a deep cultural exchange, and our hope for this gallery is that you really see these hard working, resilient people.

So as you scroll through the photographs, let them broaden your perception of what it means to be a human in poverty sticken land, and as always, we hope you make informed travel decisions.

30% of profit from any Hà Giang Loop product will be directly donated back to organisations aiding the area. Products from the gallery can be purchased at our store and feel free to get in touch for custom print orders.
